Caucasian Knot: A new wave of Syrian immigrants (Abkhazia)

The largest-ever group of repatriants from Syria, numbering 145 people, arrived in Abkhazia on April 20. A plane chartered by the government of Abkhazia took off from Beirut and landed at the airport in the city of Sochi. From there the immigrants were brought to Sukhum by bus, accompanied by officials from the Foreign Ministry and the State Committee for Repatriation, and housed in the hotel "Aytar." Currently there are 331 repatriants from Syria living in Abkhazia, including those who returned last year. They are mainly mixed Abkhazian-Circassian families.
