The process of the return of our compatriots proceeded under the personal supervision of the President of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab. Today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic was held a meeting with journalists at which the details of the relocation from Damascus to Sukhum become known.
At the press-conference, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic detailed the laborious process of negotiation and preparation for the move of our fellow citizens from the Syrian Arab Republic embroiled in war. Foreign Minister Viacheslav Chirikba expressed his gratitude for the efforts and assistance, proffered in organising and preparing the move by staff from the Central Apparatus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and by the Russian Embassy in Damascus. The process of the return of our compatriots proceeded under the personal supervision of the president of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab. For the first time, such a large number of immigrants are completing their move to their historical homeland.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and expressed the hope that our society will also help our countrymen to adapt.
Head of the Department for Turkey and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, Inar Gitsba, who previously gone to Lebanon from where the flight over was organised, spoke about the process of phase of negotiation and preparation for the relocation of the returnees.
The journalists were mostly interested in the issues of how our compatriots would adapt to life in the Republic, as well as their employment-opportunities, provision of housing for them, and their resettlement.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Viacheslav Chirikba, among those coming from the Syrian Arab Republic there are people with different professions: there are engineers, doctors and many other professionals.
To date, more than 300 immigrants have returned to their historical homeland, and more than 60 applications have been submitted. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Viacheslav Chirikba, a second such flight of our compatriots from Syria might possibly be arranged.
